DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP: Last week Northern business started on Thursday and
finished up on Friday, dressed deals had a range of $370 to $378, mostly
$372, $9 higher than the previous week's weighted average basis Nebraska.
Southern live business was done on Friday, and was marked at $236 to $240.50,
mostly $240, $5 higher than the prior week's weighted average, basis Kansas.
According to Thursday's Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle Negotiated Purchase
Summary reports the weekly accumulated weighted averages were recorded as: KS
$236.00($235.00); NE $372.33($362.56); TX $239.00 ($231.86); IA
$375.19($362.41); CO was not available due to confidentiality. (the prior
week's weighted averages are listed in parentheses). Due to the late week
trade weekly accumulated weighted averages in the South are likely to be
higher when summaries are released later today.
The Friday afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle report lists week-to-date
trade volume totals as: KS 9,825; NE 17,511; TX 4,608, IA 29,734; CO NA due
to confidentiality. Friday's slaughter totaled 92,000 head, 1,000 more than
the prior week, but 15,000 less than a year ago. Saturday's kill was
estimated at 9,000 head, bringing the weekly total to 567,000 head, 20,000
greater than the previous week, but down 40,000 from 2024. The weekly average
for boxed beef cutouts and boxed beef cuts: choice $365.54(+0.29), select
$349.73(+3.17), with an average choice/select spread of $15.81(-2.88), and a
total load count including cuts, trimmings, and grinds of 760(+34), (Changes
from the prior week are listed in parentheses).
This report was not available for the week ending October 11, 2025, the
information that follows is for the prior week ending October 04, 2025,
Imported Beef Passed for Entry in the U.S. totaled 47,121, 100.84% of the
previous week and 99.37% of the 4-week average.
DTN MORNING COMMENTS: It will likely be a typically quiet Monday morning with
both packers and producers busy taking inventory and preparing for the week
ahead. Bids and asking prices have not been established, and significant
trade volume will likely be delayed until well into the second half of the
week. Beef cutouts are expected to be higher with light box movement.
