                  Philip Livestock Auction, Philip, SD

This week: 1229 Last week: 874 Year ago: 684

Feeder cattle too few to test. Feeder receipts 30 percent steers
and 70 percent heifers. 18 percent weighed over 600 lbs. Compared
to last week slaughter cows and bulls sold fully 2.00 higher. Today's
receipts about 54 percent pairs; 19 percent females back to the
country; 10 percent slaughter cows; 8 percent feeder cattle; 3
percent slaughter bulls; 2 percent baby calves and the balance was
feeder bulls and miscellaneous cattle. A good number of buyers
present for the pair sale. Strong demand for the pairs and females
back to the country. Overall an active market. Next week's auction
will be a regular cattle sale, however, if dry conditions prevail
yearlings and pairs could come.
