Wheat...West coast cash wheat bids trekked higher with gains across the
futures complex in early week trade, with hard red winter and red spring
bids posting gains of 30 cents week on week. White basis remains defensive
against Chicago futures, dropping 20 cents from a week ago.
Crop Progress...Winter wheat harvest continued throughout the Pacific
Northwest last week, progressing slightly ahead of the average pace. Idaho
reported 5% cut, Oregon at 14% and Washington at 4%. Hot and dry conditions
nipped spring wheat conditions, with the Idaho crop down 10 points to a 65%
good to excellent rating, and Washington slipped 4 points to 56%.
Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed wheat movement returned to
a more normal level last week, coming in at 13.7 million bushels to put the
year-to-date total at 69 million bushels and 17% behind a year ago. Hard red
winter moved 4.2 million bushels, followed by white wheat with 3.3 million
and red spring at 2.9 million. West coast exporters loaded-out 7.1 million
bushels of wheat, going to the Philippines, Japan and Taiwan. More than 23
million bushels of corn were also shipped off PNW ports.
