Wheat...Further declines across the futures complex were evident for
west coast cash wheat prices, with the protein wheats now down 50 to 60
cents from recent highs. White wheat continues to fare a bit better as
the spot basis has more than doubled over the past week.
Crop Progress...Pacific Northwest winter wheat conditions held mostly
steady, with the 3-state index at 104% of average. The good to excellent
ratings were up a point for all 3 states, with Idaho at 81%, Washington
at 77% and Oregon at 55%.
Shipments...Weekly export inpsections showed a slightly better week of
wheat movement off U.S. ports, coming in at 14.7 million bushels. Year-to
date shipments set at 878 million bushels and 9% ahead of a year ago. Top
shipper was hard red winter with 4.7 million bushels, followed by spring
wheat with 4 million and white wheat with 2.1 million. West coast export
activity showed 9 million bushels of wheat moved, going mostly to South
Korea and The Philippines, along wth 22 million bushels of corn and 2.8
million of soybeans.
